Help a Syrian refugee family find a better life in the County.
PEC Syria has helped four related families from Syrian resettle in and around Prince Edward County. Each family is supported by an amazing team of volunteers – people who help drive them to appointments; connect them with schools, doctors and employment supports; introduce their children to new friends; or just sip tea and get to know each other better.
Our team members come from all backgrounds. Some volunteers are engaged several hours a week; others give a few hours a month. Some are only available seasonally. We will work with you to find the best fit for your time, interests and experience. All ages are welcome and every individual can make a difference in welcoming and supporting newcomers.
We are currently making preparations to resettle three more families related to the Al Jasems whose applications are still in process. This process will take time, but we will need volunteers who can mobilize to fill a home with furnishings, form a welcome committee and help them adjust to Canadian life and culture.
We are also seeking individuals or groups interested in helping a displaced family of three resettle in a larger city where their son can continue his medical studies, along with several other families who have reached out to ask for help relocating to Canada. If you think your community could host a family, please reach out – we’d love to talk to you!
To get involved – a little or a lot – please complete the volunteer information form below. You will be contacted by a committee member.
